In our opinion it is never too early to get ahead of the crowd. It&#8217;s a personal preference. Some believe their home is not complete at Christmas time until the smell of a freshly cut Fir fills the air. For others perhaps a lack of space may mean an artificial tree is their only option. Gone are the days of sad looking artificial trees, now you could not be blamed for being fooled into thinking an artificial tree may be real. Brush it gently with your fingers or tap it lightly on the ground. If it sheds lots of needles it may be an old tree.<\/li>\n<li>Avoid those with brittle branches and dull needles.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Cut off about half an inch from its base in order to open up its pores, put it in a bucket of water and keep it outside in a shady, sheltered spot until it is required indoors.<\/li>\n<li>Once inside, stand your tree in a container that you can top up with water. This will help make the tree last longer. The colours should be relevant to the room, a red and gold tree isn&#8217;t going to work in a grey and taupe interior. \u00a0For a cohesive effect, select decorations that are similar in colour to those already existing in the room.\u00a0That said, what does it matter if you break a few rules? One of the nicest things about your Christmas tree are the decorations that come out every year especially the ones\u00a0that date back to your childhood so start by adding these to your tree first. If it is a large tree, it&#8217;s important to up the scale of the decorations. Hang some large baubles, over sized ornaments or big bows that sit on the branches to make it more distinctive.
