Entertaining: Cocktails to try this weekend…

With the weekend in sight, we’re thinking about entertaining! Whether we get the sunshine to entertain al fresco or opt to stay indoors, what better way to be the host with the most than with a little pre-dinner cocktail or mocktail?

Here are our cocktail hour favourites!

Cocktails

Modern Mimosa

A brunch time classic, try this mimosa with a little twist! The grapefruit is zesty and refreshing while the rosemary adds a delicious aroma.

Half pink grapefruit juice

Half champagne

Serves: 1

Garnish: Sprig of rosemary

Glass: Serve in a champagne flute

Orange Fizz

For prosecco fans looking to try something new, the Orange Fizz is a must!

blood orange, half sliced, half juiced

50ml Cointreau

50ml prosecco

90ml soda water

Serves: 1

Garnish: 2 sprigs fresh mint

Glass: Serve in a champagne flute or modern wine glass like the Alternato

Alternato Glasses

Classic Mojito

Packed with refreshing mint, ice and lime juice, the classic mojito is top of the list when it comes to summer cocktails. Shake up this cooling drink in minutes with a few simple ingredients.

50 ml White Rum

8 Mint leaves

12 1/2 ml Sugar Syrup

25 ml Lime Juice

2 Mint sprigs

Ice

Serves: 1

Garnish: A few sprigs of mint, sugar for the rim  of the glass

Glass: Serve in a highball glass

Mojito Maker

Aperol Spiritz

Pop the prosecco and channel some Italian summer vibes with an Aperol Spritz!

90ml Prosecco

60ml Aperol

Splash of club soda

Ice

Serves: 1

Garnish: Slice of orange of lemon

Glass: Serve in a wine glass

Tinto Verano

This one is for the red wine lovers. Very popular in Spain, the Tinto Verano is a simpler version of Sangria and is a great alternative to your regular glass of wine.

1/2 cup red wine

1/2 cup lemon-lime soda, such as Sprite or 7-Up

Slice of lemon

3-4 ice cubes

Serves: 1

Garnish: Wedge of lemon

Glass: Serve in a highball glass or classic wine glass

Mocktails

Baby Bellini

If you love a Bellini but would prefer to leave out the prosecco, we’ve found a wonderful alcohol free recipe. It’s so good any time of day, especially for a lazy summer brunch in the sun.

60ml peach puree

150ml sparkling apple or pear juice (chilled)

Sparling water to taste

Serves: 1

Glass: Serve in a champagne glass

Cosmopolitan (non-alcoholic)

120ml Lemonade

120ml Cranberry juice

30ml Lime juice

Serves: 1

Garnish: Wedge of lime

Glass: Serve in a cocktail glass
