Christmas Cocktails!

Dec. 20, 2021

The Christmas holidays are fast approaching. Covid permitting, we are hoping there will be plenty of friends and family to entertain, and what better way to be the host with the most than with a little pre-dinner cocktail! We have even thrown in a cheeky pre-brunch cocktail for those days when you have nothing to do but enjoy a delicious cocktail with your nearest and dearest.

Citrus at Christmas

Difficulty: Easy

Ingredients:

  • 60ml vodka
  • 15ml St. Germain (elderflower liquor)
  • 70ml fresh squeezed clementine or blood orange juice
  • Ginger beer, for topping
  • Pomegranate arils
  • 1 sprig fresh thyme or mint for topping

1. Fill our Bach D.O.F Glasses with ice.

2. Add the vodka, elderflower liquor, and clementine juice.

3. Top with ginger beer.

4. Add the pomegranates and thyme or mint.

5. Enjoy!

Classic Snowball

Difficulty: Easy

Ingredients:

  • 10-15ml lime juice or lime cordial, (optional)
  • 50ml advocaat
  • 50ml sparkling lemonade
  • 1 maraschino cherry for topping

1. Fill a glass with ice and add up to 15ml of lime juice or lime cordial.

2. Pour the advocaat and lemonade over the ice in our Cocktail Mixing Set.

3. Stir gently until the outside of the glass feels cold.

4. Pour into a glass (we suggest the Geo Hi-Ball Square Glass Set)

5. Garnish with the maraschino cherry.

Classic Eggnog

Difficulty: More effort

Ingredients:

  • 1 vanilla pod, split and seeds scraped out
  • 4 eggs, separated
  • 100ml sugar syrup
  • 100ml double cream
  • 500ml whole milk
  • 100-150ml brandy

1. Put the vanilla seeds in a large bowl. Add the egg yolks and sugar syrup, and beat with The KitchenAid Hand Mixer until pale (about 2-3 mins).

2. Add the cream, milk and brandy, and beat again until just combined.

3. Strain into a punch bowl.

4. Clean the beaters, then beat the egg whites in a clean bowl to soft peaks.

5. Fold a third of the whipped egg whites into the milk and cream mixture in the punch bowl, then add the remaining whipped egg whites. Gently fold these in until the eggnog is fluffy and smooth.

6. Chill until ready to serve. Will keep, covered in the fridge, for up to a day.

7. Just before serving, add plenty of ice, then stir gently and ladle into the Erne Cocktail Glasses.

Christmas Brunch Mimosa

Difficulty: More effort

  • Rosemary springs for garnish
  • Sugared cranberries for garnish

Sugared Cranberries

  • 70ml water

1. Add 30ml or so of juice to the bottom of the Speckle Champagne Flute

2. Fill it up with champagne

3. Garnish with rosemary and sugared cranberries.

4. Enjoy!

SUGARED CRANBERRIES

1. Add 175g of the sugar and the water to a saucepan over medium heat.

2. Whisk until the sugar dissolves and bring the mixture to a boil, cooking for 2 to 3 minutes.

3. Set it aside until it is cool enough to touch.

4. Once the syrup is cool, pour the liquid over the cranberries in a bowl.

5. Place the remaining sugar on a plate and roll the cranberries in sugar one at a time.
