Everyone loves a sale, but let’s be honest – they’re rather overwhelming. With so many options suddenly in your price range, it can be hard to think clearly and shop amongst the crowds. So, to help you out, we’ve compiled a list of do’s and don’ts to help you through your sale shopping next Monday and beyond.
1. Do: Plan Ahead.
Make a list, or bookmark what you want, so that you’re prepared when the sale starts. That way you’ll be able to keep your eyes peeled for the perfect handbag, without getting too distracted.
2. Do: Get in Early

3. Don’t: Go with Small Children
Do not, I repeat, DO NOT go sale shopping with children. Well, definitely not small children anyway. They will ruin it for you by: telling you they need a snack/drink at 10 minute intervals (anything to gain your attention), hiding among racks of clothes or by giving you a heart attack when you can’t see them.
4. Do: Keep yourself hands free
Keep your hands free by wearing a cross body bag to store your essentials, and keep any heavy items such as umbrellas etc at home. Your hands and arms will thank you for it and you’ll be able to rummage without worrying about your belongings.
5. Do: Dress for some Serious Shopping
If you’re braving it and going in for the long haul, kit yourself out – in fact, get your military head on. Wear comfortable shoes and a lightweight clothing that you won’t mind putting on and taking off, over and over again.
6. Do: Allow Time to Shop
Nothings worse than rushing around the store and having to leave when seeing the queue to check out. Allow plenty of time to browse what’s on offer and enjoy the sale without any distractions.
7. Do: Bring a Calculator
Have a small calculator with you for any percentage discount workings. We know it’s old fashioned but chances are, if you pull out the phone to use the calculator on it, the phone will ring!
8. Don’t: Stress
Stay cool. Busy shops can leave you feeling more stressed than an important work deadline. This is the last thing you want so take a few deep breaths, count to ten and remember, it will be all worth it once you come across that item you’ve been thinking about all summer. Only now, it’s reduced to half the original price. YAY!
9) Do: Be Decisive
If in doubt pick it up and hold onto it! You can spend time deciding while you are walking around the shop looking at other things, or even in the queue – but you don’t want to left disappointed when the shopper next to you takes advantage of your dithering. You will only kick yourself if you miss out.
10) Do: Bring a Friend
We recommend bringing along a friend when you’re hitting the sales. Not only will you be able to provide each other with opinions on what works and what doesn’t, you can catch up and grab a coffee later.
