A new year is a chance to have a fresh start and the best place to begin is at home. Time flies by and we rarely get a chance to do half the jobs we have on our lists but by making a few small changes and creating new habits around your home you can get 2020 off to a great start!
Our buyers took some time out to give us their top tips to refresh and revive your home without breaking the bank.
1. Declutter & Re-organise

It takes some time but one of the best things you can do to improve your space is to declutter and re-organise. We have all heard of the “Marie Kondo Method” and there is a reason why she is a global phenomenon! If you have time do some decluttering and also think about your space. Ask yourself, do I have enough storage? Is the storage I have effective? For example in the hallway choose some simple storage solutions that will tidy up your space easily like the Oak Hallway Storage bench. This beautiful bench is multi-functional and looks great. You will have a new perch to sit on, storage for scarves, hats and gloves in the seat and can store shoes underneath – solving multiple problems!

2. Layer Textures & Colour
Adding colour and texture is a simple way to make your home feel renewed without making any dramatic changes. Natural textures like sheepskin, leather and linens are a wonderful choice to add a sense of warmth and luxury to your space as we move from winter to spring. Make your space stylish and inviting with simple finishing touches like a sheepskin rug or neat footstool.

3. Green Your Kitchen

Make 2020 the year to green your home by choosing eco-friendly products in the kitchen. We all want to lower our carbon footprint but it can be hard to know where to start. My advice is to keep it simple in the beginning. Invest in the small changes that will make a big difference if you keep them up throughout the year. For example, choose reusable food wrap over disposable alternatives for lunches. Our Beeswrap Sandwich wrap is absolutely worth the investment at just €12.95. You will reduce your waste and save in the long run.

Reduce your use of plastic further by choose stainless steel straws and reduce food waste with our Food Huggers. Food Huggers are a super-easy way to protect and store your food so you get the most out of it and don’t end up throwing out half a lemon or banana simply because it wasn’t covered properly.

4. Let it Grow!

From fresh herbs to fresh flowers, introducing some greenery is a wonderful way to give your home a new lease of life. If you love to cook our Herb Keeper is an excellent investment for the new year.

If you are on a health kick make your fruit bowl a feature, letting fresh, zesty colours brighten up your kitchen.

5. Make it your own
Whether you are renting or in your forever home we all have fantastic pictures in at the bottom of a drawer or on our phones that we’ve been meaning to print and hang up! Start the new year by framing up those lovely memories and enhancing your décor at the same time.
